Valtteri Bottas drove a perfect race and showed once again how he handles the pressure.
Bottas was the fastest man in the qualies and converted the pole into a 2017 Austrian GP win.
Valtteri already proved himself last time when Hamilton was not at the top of his game and proved he can lead the team to victory. He is placing himself firmly back in the battle for the 2017 championship. We hope the Mercedes team allows them to race freely, and we hope that they can keep it clean!
Right after the start, several drivers were involved in an incident. Unfortunately, Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen were out of the race. Both drivers obviously very disappointed. Max had a very good starting position and could have perhaps challenged top 3 drivers and grabbed a podium finish, while Fernando was on the 12th starting position and if he wasn't involved in the accident, points were possible for McLaren. The accident was caused by Kvyat who locked up and run into Aloso and Verstappen.
Kvyat received penalty points and now has 7 in total.
Daniel Ricciardo drove a fine race and defended the 3rd step of the podium from Hamilton who complained about the grip several times during the race. Lewis' tyres were almost destroyed at the very end of the race, but he was able to keep it together and he came in 4th.
There was not much to see from the most popular driver on the grid, Kimi Räikkönen. He was not pleased with the car whole weekend and was on average slower about half a second than Vettel. He said that the qualification could have gone much worse. They should really analyse what happened there, and why was Kimi not able to take the fight to Hamilton for 4th place.
Grosjean was a very pleasant surprise both in qualifying and in the race. Romain drove as high as 4th place at the start, before he was overtaken by faster cars of Kimi and Hamilton. Nevertheless, he was "the best of the rest" today and won valuable points for the team.
Force India once again proved their consistent form by taking up places in the top 10. Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon did not crash into each other this weekend, and were able to haul some points for FI team. Sergio was 7th and Ocon was 8th.
Felipe Massa once again showed he's a valuable asset for Williams F1 team. He and Lance Stroll managed to win last 2 places among points scorers, after appaling qualifications where they placed 17th and 18th on the starting grid.
Jolyon Palmer again failed to score points even though he ended up in front of Nico Hulkember for once. All in all, this is a race Renault will want to forget.
